I started at Best Buy as a user experience designer supporting four different product teams: Candidate Attraction, Hiring, Onboarding, and Inclusion, Diversity & Equity. During my time on this team, I learned a lot about talent acquisition, human resources business processes, two different company mergers (Current Health and Yardbird), and legal requirements. Some of the work I'm most proud of is:
Onboarding communication optimization
Reimagined the onboarding communications sent to hiring managers and new hires to streamline communications, provide clarity, and drive consistency.
HR transformation journey-mapping
Worked with product, engineering, operations, and business stakeholders to map out over 15 different user journeys of business processes including identifying steps, opportunities, and areas of impact.
'Our Culture' page redesign
Designed a complete overhaul of the ‘Our Culture’ page on the Best Buy career site. After launch, we saw a 160% increase in unique visitors (see the case study)

Hiring application flow
Worked with product, operations, and legal to reevaluate the application flow for field roles. This work resulted in a reduced time to apply for field employees by 57% (from 14-16 minutes to 6-8 minutes).

In April 2023, the scope of my role increased to include our Core HCM (human capital management) team. During the year I supported these teams, some of the highlights of our work was:
Early Career process flow definition and refinement
Conducting journey-mapping exercises for the documentation of the current state of early careers and highlighting areas opportunity for improving the process for future-state.
HRBP (Human Resources Business Partner) personas
Creation of personas for field, corporate, service, and supply chain human resource business partners to show the similarities and differences in their roles, needs, and motivations for use in future reporting dashboard work.
Payslip redesign for Total Rewards team (stretch assignment)
Working with product, engineering, legal, and business partners to redesign the digital payslip for corporate employees in Workday to drive more clarity and reduce HR support calls about pay.

2024
In March 2024, as part of a reorganization, I changed teams and joined Best Buy's repair and services space. In this role, I worked on an internal work order system modernization effort across the intake, triage & routing, reunion, and parts product teams. Throughout the year I spent on this project, I designed for and was involved in several releases, worked on discovery efforts, conducted user interviews and usability testing, and documented user journeys to use for strategizing future releases. One of the most notable things we did was a three-week design sprint to resolve a poorly received redesign to work order queues, which you can read more about here.
